Can you close the window? It covers us in snow Father leaves it agape And our breath takes its shape Father says it’s just right And it lets in the light His whiskey keeps him warm While we survive the storm Baby Lily cries, cold Susan’s blue fingers fold And my shoulders shudder We stare at the shutters Father thinks we feel his warmth But we only see storms His rage, we feel the blow Will you close the window?

I remember you calling It was three in the morning You asked me to sing It was a song we knew And about halfway through I wished I never knew you I wished I never knew you I wished I never knew you I remember our walks in the night Silhouette in the streetlight And everything felt right It was a path we knew But as we made memories new I wished I never knew you I wished I never knew you I wished I never knew you I remember the tears you fought And in the words your throat caught I heard you ask me about God I told you it would be okay And that I’d be there for you every day But you felt yourself fall anyway And as you flew As I always imagined you'd do I wished I never knew you I wished I never knew you I wished I never knew you I won’t ever listen to That song I sang for you

Luna 03:32
You give the sea your devoted love While you reside in stars above And while the sea will never leave It is always reaching for you Luna, Goddess of the Moon While we build our monuments You just watch in reverence And while I climb, I can't let you find My hand reaching out for you Luna, Goddess of the Moon If you only knew Our perfection looks like you The poems and the stories we write Inspired merely by your sight The craters of your crest Where your endurance shines best And we clamor to see the dark side of the moon But Luna, that’s up to you Goddess of the Moon I’m content with watching you reach For the sea, I am not as broad or deep But I want you to believe, If only you could believe You were worth crashing down for Goddess of the Moon

Those things you used to whisper In those moments, when we were closer I held them near and felt your warmth But now my heart is tipping over I can't tell if you're missing me, or if You're not as sad as I wish you'd be, but You once took my hand and held it tight, now you're Taking off without me into the night Go out every night and lose ourselves Collide, fall apart, see what we rebuild Streetlights beyond sheets of rain Should’ve saved myself the pain I can't tell if you're missing me, or if You're not as lost as I wish you'd be, but You once took my hand and held it tight, And now I’m losing you to the night

Desperate 02:58
You’re poison, baby You know it’s true, you know it’s true Think I don’t want out? Well I do, well I do The pawns that you play Are as black as your heart Is that why you live, Is that why you live in the dark? You’re poison, baby You know it’s true, you know it’s true You think I don’t know you don’t love me But I do, but I do, ooh The pawns that you play Are as black as your heart Is that why you live, Is that why you live in the dark? You’re desperate, baby That much is true, that much is true You think you can talk your way out Because that’s all you can do You’re convinced that to pull yourself up You must tear everyone else down But you’re up against the world And you're headed for the ground You’re poison, baby You know it’s true, you know it’s true You think I don’t know you don’t love me But I do, but I do, ooh The pawns that you play Are as black as your heart Is that why you live, Is that why you live in the dark? Running out of time At the end of your rope With your back against the wall You're desperate You're desperate You’re cornered, baby Nowhere to go, nothing to do They’ve got torches, pitchforks now Headed for you, headed for you These games you’ve been playing, the tables have turned Can’t trust you with anything, that much I’ve learned You’ll be desperate for me now When you’re buried in the ground They’re filling your grave You better start screaming
8.
You took me by surprise The way you make the sun rise I want to see you smile See the gleam in your eyes You took me to the sea A warmth washed over me And now when I see you I see everything you could be You took me to cure your heart The demons there tore you apart And when the warmth grows to a spark The light shines on healing scars You took me by surprise The way you make the sun rise I want to see you smile See the gleam in your eyes

Your Moon 02:13
When your moon’s as high as can be Go to the woods, come looking for me Into the woods, come looking for me I’ll be waiting by the big oak tree When the crickets are singing their song I’ll bring my guitar and we’ll sing along You bring your voice for to sing along The sun’s on it’s way so don’t take too long When the leaves are turning to red And your parents are turning to bed When those in your house are ready for bed Come out, take the path where the deer tread My love, dance with me, we have all night We’ll be with each other until the light We can be together ’til morning light And they say there’s no love at first sight

VERSE 1: What do you think would happen When you pulled the curtain closed Nobody can see inside but Still everyone knows Hiding in the cooler Smoking on your break Remembering your latest nightmare Trapped beneath a frozen lake Wondering where you can go Wondering how to get there Is this all you were meant to be Or would you ever dare The storm is blowing harder Your time is running out You won’t be able to get away If you’re buried in your doubt CHORUS 1: Don’t you see what’s happening? Morning might one day come A harsh wind is blowing in But the night has just begun Don’t you see what you’re doing? The Sun might grace the sky The clouds grey obliterate What once was warm and bright VERSE 2: Is this all you were meant to be? Is there more inside to come? This bridge burning is dangerous When there's no where left to run I realize now that you can't help What refuses to be fixed Lay your insides out for me So I can heal this itch This pain you feel is not your own, It resides in some division These cockroaches crawling out Are blurring out your vision Side by side, the dying light Falling apart, the tendons frey Your time will end tonight Your time will slip away

about

POE003
(Tracks 0031-0042)

credits

released January 31, 2016

For all tracks except for 11 and 12, all instrumentation, lyrics, and mixing were written by Prisoner of Earth.

The amazing guitar on tracks 11 and 12 were recorded by The Seven Dead Putnams in their house in December.

A lot of my musical inspiration comes from my friends Dream Magic and the aforementioned Seven, and I owe them a lot for the hours I've spent narcissistically badgering them with questions about the lyrics and music.

Some of these songs, as you can probably tell, are inspired by people in a romantic context. I'd like to think that my time spent with those people has made me a better person, but what kind of metric would you use for that? Anyway, thanks to you too.

I also want to thank everyone who's pre-ordered the album. You're making the world a better place.

With love,
P.O.E.
